We've developed a deployment template that follows the 4-step flow from Strategy Prioritization to Success/Failure Analysis.
The deployment flow starts with an as-is assessment of the current planning process. We then develop "strawman" models with a cross-functional core team. This permits us to experiment with decision criteria in a smaller focused group. This preplanning makes the group workshops more efficient. Then we "involve and refine" the models with larger groups -- to get buy-in and participation. The final step is to add constraints into the model in order to understand what can be done with the current resource limitations.
The deployment concludes with skills being transferred to an internal team that carries on the Portfolio Refresh process 1-2 times a month.
