Do tighter control systems create faster projects?
/Contrary to general belief, high control "systems" don't generate fast projects. In fact the opposite was the case in very fast organizations. One would think that that less control (i.e. low management overhead) would generate faster projects, like start-ups who have virtually no control systems. Again, this was not the case.
Fast projects hit a sweet-spot somewhere between a high level of control and low control structures. Find the sweet-spot in your organization. This is driven primarily by skills, experience, subject matter and technical expertise, the cross functional team configuration and the role of the host organization (as a provisioner or interrupter of teams).
